ACOPIOS TEXTILES
In Acopios Textiles, I turn my attention to the usually concealed activity of textile making. Through an action carried out within the exhibition space, I bring forward the time, concentration, and repeated gestures involved in working with fibres and constructing textile forms.
Rather than placing the finished object at the centre, I present the tools, materials, trials, and successive stages that normally disappear once the work is complete. Simple implements and ongoing actions occupy the exhibition space, allowing visitors to encounter textile practice as it unfolds.
The work emerged from my interest in everything that accumulates around making: movements learned through repetition, small changes in the material, interrupted attempts, remnants, and the time deposited in each operation. Acopios Textiles proposes that these elements are not secondary to the work, but form part of what the textile contains and communicates.
