Cross Patterns

Developed alongside the exhibition Inspiré.e.s – Acte 2: Arts numériques, this four-day workshop introduced young participants to artistic experimentation across analogue and digital media.

Taking questions present in Palomino-Ruiz’s installation Cross Patterns as a point of departure, the workshop explored connections between image, sound, gesture, material processes, and technological systems. Through practical and collective exercises, participants approached digital art not only through screens and software, but as a field in which physical actions and materials can be translated, combined, and transformed.

The workshop brought together students from Lycée Édouard Branly in Dreux, Institut André Beulé in Vernouillet, École Saint-Martin in Nigelles, and a collège in Nogent-le-Rotrou.

Sound Cartographies

Sound Cartographies introduced children to cartography and electronics through collective drawing, sound, and tactile interaction.

Participants created a shared map representing their relationships with the city: their neighbourhoods, daily journeys, and familiar places. Using electrically conductive ink, they transformed the drawing into an interactive soundscape. Touching different points on its surface activated sounds, allowing personal and spatial narratives to be explored through physical interaction.

In a second experiment, participants converted an ordinary graphite pencil into a sound-producing interface. The workshop approached drawing not only as a form of representation, but also as an electrical circuit and a means of connecting gesture, place, and sound.
