INTERVENTION

Site-specific work. Installation view from Contingency Plan, das weisse haus, Vienna, Austria, 2017.

Intervention was conceived in response to the exhibition space and to the collaborative premise of Contingency Plan. Rather than operating as an autonomous object, the work approached the exhibition as a temporary situation shaped by proximity, encounter, and the coexistence of different artistic practices.

The intervention emerged from considering how an individual work enters an already active environment: how it occupies a place, establishes connections, and subtly alters the relationships between the space, the other works, and those moving through it. Its meaning depended on these immediate conditions and on the temporary constellation created by the exhibition.

Curated by Pablo Caligaris during his residency at studio das weisse haus, Contingency Plan brought together artists working in Vienna around a shared question: how might collaboration offer a way of responding to social uncertainty, individualism, and the pressures of everyday reality?
